Oulton Hall Wedding Photographer | Andrea & David

Our final wedding of 2013 saw us as Oulton Hall wedding photographers for a great couple, Andrea and Dave.  When Andrea came in to book us we knew we'd have a good time because she loves our artistic style and she said she couldn't wait to pose like a model.  Music to our ears!  We're not sure whether Dave was quite as enthusiastic but he willingly gave us plenty of time so that we could get some beautiful couple shots around this spectacular venue.

We're very privileged to be one of the recommended wedding photographers for Oulton Hall and as Andrea stayed at the venue the night before, we started our coverage of the day as she got ready in one of the bedrooms upstairs.  It has to be said that our bride looked amazing in her gorgeous vintage style lace dress and she was a star to photograph! We were really pleased that the weather stayed dry so that we could photograph the boys outside, although Oulton Hall is one of those wedding venues where the weather isn't too much of a concern, offering as it does, so many great locations inside.

After the civil ceremony in the Repton Room and with such brilliant luck with the weather, we managed to persuade everyone to gather outside for photographs and we stayed outside right up to the time when the room was ready for the wedding breakfast.  With speeches before dinner, we stayed on the capture them and then we left everyone to enjoy the meal.  When we returned, we spent some time with Andrea taking some artistic bridal portraits and we decided to feature the beautiful Christmas tree in some of these, before Dave joined his bride for romantic couple photos on the staircase and gallery and for something that Andrea particularly wanted - photographs in the lift!  It's not the first time we've photographed a couple in a lift but usually there is a way of making the doors stay open for long enough.  Not this time!  It's a huge challenge when you're trying to get the pose right, create the right atmosphere for intimate and passionate expressions on the couple's faces and get out of the way fast enough to rattle off a sequence of images before the doors shut!  It was good fun though and the images are well worth all the hard work!

The couple's daughter, Mia, played a huge part in her mum and dad's big day and after working at break neck speed to get the lift shots, it was lovely to slow things down and capture some photographs of mother and daughter together, which we are sure will be very precious to Andrea.

With the couple's evening guests due to arrive, we headed up to the Claret Jug to capture Mr and Mrs Garner's first dance together.  It was fabulous to end our 2013 wedding season on such a high and we sincerely thank Andrea and Dave for being such a joy to work with. Thank you also for your patience with the lift shots guys!

Theatre Photographer Yorkshire | Cinderella Panto Photography for Cast in Doncaster

Being an experienced theatre photographer in Yorkshire and having a lot of experience taking photographs of many productions over several years, including pantomime photographs, musical theatre photography and a variety of stage production photos, it was fantastic to be booked to capture images at the dress rehearsal of the Cinderella pantomime  at Cast in Doncaster, the evening before the show opened.

The marketing department really needed professional pantomime photographs, not only to advertise Cinderella to the public, but so that before next year's pantomime comes round, they will already have great images to show off which will give people a bit of a taster of what a brilliant performance they can expect to see.

This was our very first visit to Cast, which only opened its doors in September, and so this was their very first pantomime.  This beautiful contemporary theatre is just breathtaking and we were made very welcome by Oliver and Graham, who we have to thank - Oliver for booking us and Graham, who remembered us as Theatre Royal Wakefield photographers and who very kindly recommended us.  He also looked after us really well throughout and was very enthusiastic about the images Alex was capturing.

We enjoyed this project enormously, loved the production and the theatre and we hope that we will have the pleasure of working with the guys at Cast again soon.

If you need a commercial photographer in Yorkshire, our rates are very competitive so please give us a call on 01977 730159.

Dog Portraits West Yorkshire | Paddy the Westie

As our busy and very enjoyable 2013 wedding season comes to a close, we turn our attention to the Castleford portrait photography side our business, which is busy throughout the year but it really steps up a gear during the run up to Christmas.  A professional portrait, beautifully printed and framed, makes the perfect gift for almost anyone and is something that will be treasured for a long time to come.  It's a wonderful gift for the person who has everything.  Our portraits are certainly not limited to those of people and as professional dog photographers in West Yorkshire, it was great to receive a call from Phil to book Paddy into the studio for a pet portrait session.  Paddy was a star and he not only stole the show, he stole our hearts too!

If you would like a professional portrait of your four-legged friend, please call the studio on 01977 730159.  Hurry, as we have very limited availability if you want a framed print in time for Christmas.

Engagement Photographer West Yorkshire | Adele and Sean

We recently met up with Adele and Sean for a relaxed and enjoyable pre-wedding photo session in a local park.  As engagement photographers in West Yorkshire, we know that any kind of location shoot can be made difficult by adverse weather, so we'd been keeping our fingers crossed for quite a long time that the autumn weather would be kind to us.  As it turned out, it was about as perfect as you could wish for with lovely, soft, early evening light and no wind, enabling us to use different locations and play around with a few ideas for Adele and Sean's photographs.

They are such a great couple, so friendly and really easy to get along with, as well as being very enthusiastic about working with us.  We had lots of laughs together and if this session is anything to go by, we will have a fabulous time sharing their big day in September next year.

Adele and Sean chose a few images to have printed and their favourite will be framed with a signature mount that their guests will write messages on during their wedding reception. We are really looking forward to having the privilege of capturing the couple's big day.

Wedding Photography Waterton Park Hotel | Louise and Robin

It was lovely to be invited to be Waterton Park wedding photographers for such a great couple.  Louise and Rob booked us to capture their celebrations, which were held on an autumn day at this beautiful, picturesque venue and as Louise got ready there before the civil ceremony, it was a day of wedding photography at Waterton Park Hotel.  As this was a 3 pm ceremony, every minute was precious as we knew that any photographs which had to be taken in daylight had to be completed by just before 5 pm, when everyone was called for dinner, as it would be pitch black by the time the speeches were over.

We'd just arrived and checked out the ceremony room when we were greeted by Louise's auntie Rosemary, who was accompanied by her dad and Louise's granddad, John, who at 91 years young, is still very much a charmer.  It was lovely to see Rosemary again, who, along with her husband Geoff, we've had the pleasure of getting to know during the run up to the wedding, and it was uncle Geoff who had the honour of giving his niece away.   First though, there was the important job of capturing a beautiful bride getting ready for the ceremony and photographing her dress and accessories.  We were given a warm welcome by the bridesmaids, Louise's mum Teresa and auntie Ann when we arrived upstairs and it was something of a luxury to have a huge room to work in.

The walk over the bridge to meet Rob confirmed that it was windy and quite cold but we were hoping that after two rainy weddings the previous weekend, the wet stuff would stay away.  We also had our fingers crossed that the wind wouldn't have completely stripped the autumn leaves from the trees.  The backdrop of colours at this time of year is stunning and we kept Rob and his attendants busy for while until the guests started to arrive, returning to Louise to capture her dress being fastened before her walk down the stairs and into the ceremony with her proud uncle Geoff.

Louise had taken no chances when it came to confetti shots, placing boxes of it on the chairs in the ceremony room.  This is such a great idea when you really want these photos because you can't always guarantee that guests will remember to bring it.  Her planning was well rewarded with a very impressive effort from everyone and some great images captured, before we headed back over the bridge to the drinks reception and the group photo session.

As we were very much working against the clock to maximise the time we had, we were really grateful for everyone's co-operation in helping us get the group shots in the can as quickly as possible, so that we could then work with the couple and get some photos in the must have locations that are very much a part of Waterton Park wedding photography. The eye catching backdrop of autumn colours just begged to be used in some beautiful bridal portraits and couple photos.  Louise and Rob were wonderful to work with, smiled throughout and enthusiastically went along with our ideas. Couples like them are the reason we love being wedding photographers!

Amy was on hand to look after everyone and we really appreciate how well she looked after us too, ensuring that the wedding breakfast room was ready for us to photograph at the scheduled time and liaising with us throughout the day to make sure that everything ran smoothly.  The room really did look lovely in its turquoise and white scheme and once these images were captured, we had a few minutes whilst the guests took their seats, to photograph the new Mr and Mrs Meegan at the front of the hotel.  We returned in time for the speeches, which were a perfect mix of the emotional and the hilarious and a selection of these will make a brilliant double page spread in the couple's storybook.

It was completely dark by the time Louise and Rob joined us again and as we knew that their evening guests would be arriving soon, we had to decide on the best use of the time we had and what should take priority.  This turned out to be some lovely, creative portraits of Louise on the staircase and some evening photos of the couple at the front of Walton Hall, before it was first dance and party time.

Our thanks go not only to Louise and Rob for being so fantastic and for working with us to cram as much as possible into the time we had, but also to their wonderful families.  It was our absolute pleasure to be there to capture this beautiful autumn wedding.

If you are looking for a Waterton Park Hotel wedding photographer, we are recommended by the venue and we would love to hear from you.  If you'd like more information, please call us on 01977 730159 or visit us at our West Yorkshire wedding photographer website.   You can also follow us on Facebook.
