Wood Hall Wedding Photography | Victoria and John

Being chosen to photograph a wedding is always a huge privilege and something that never fails to make us happy, but when a couple book us as a direct result of us being recommended to them by their friends, it's a very special feeling.  Such was the booking from Victoria and John, close friends of Jules and Ady, whose wedding we photographed last November.  Our sincere thanks to both couples.

As Wood Hall wedding photographers, we know what a beautiful venue this is, but like most wedding venues, it's best when the weather is good and you can make the most of the spectacular surroundings.  Lady Luck was definitely around for Victoria and John's big day, sending uninterrupted sunshine from early in the morning.

Victoria got ready at Wood Hall Hotel & Spa so our day started there, with a short trip to nearby Sicklinghall for the ceremony and then back to Wood Hall for the reception.  Two rooms next door to each other meant that we could capture our bride having make-up applied and hair styled in one room and photograph her gorgeous dress and accessories in the other.  It's often impossible to take a full length shot of the wedding dress because either there isn't enough space or you can't get back far enough.  However, a dark wood wardrobe with a mirror at a right angle to it made the most perfect setting for a stunning photograph of that amazing dress.  Alex let Victoria have a quick preview of the image on the back of the camera before joking that he'd deleted it and coming close to getting a battering!

John arrived at St Peter's Church in Sicklinghall just as we did and after helping the boys fix buttonholes, we captured a few relaxed shots of them all together before concentrating on John's portraits.  Victoria arrived with her proud dad Cliff in a very eye catching car which she had previously described as being as close to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as she could find.  We knew that it would make a great feature in some images of the newly married Mr and Mrs Broadbent when we got back to Wood Hall.

A surprise gift from Victoria's mum was a visit from Pete the Sweep who greeted the couple at the door at the end of their ceremony.  Cath had let us into the secret a few weeks before and so we were fully briefed and ready to capture some images before beginning the formal group photographs.  Getting these done at the church if the light and location is good is definitely preferable as, with everyone around, it's much quicker and frees up precious time for other photographs at the reception venue.

With such a glorious day and no sign of the weather letting us down, the guests enjoyed Pimms on the terrace and soaked up the sunshine whilst we captured some great images.  Fun shots with the bridal party were very much on the agenda for later on and after the wedding breakfast and speeches, including a surprise presentation for the couple from some of their friends in Australia, which resulted is lots of laughter as well as a few tears, we headed out into the early evening sunshine to play.

Congratulations to you both and thank you for allowing us to share your celebrations. You certainly couldn't have wished for better weather and we enjoyed every minute spent with you and your guests.  Have a fabulous honeymoon and in the meantime, here are a few preview images for you to enjoy.

Chevin Country Park Hotel Wedding Photographers | Jenna & Kyle

As Chevin Country Park Hotel wedding photographers it was really nice to return to this venue in its  pretty woodland and lakeside setting to capture Jenna and Kyle's wedding.

This lovely couple are now the current record holders for the earliest civil ceremony we've covered, tying the knot at 10 am which meant a very early start with Jenna and her bridesmaids at around 7.30 am.  An early ceremony has several advantages.  It gives the bride and groom a much longer wedding day to enjoy after all the months of planning and it allows them plenty of time to spend with family and friends.  It also meant that we could divide Jenna and Kyle's photographs into shorter sessions and by approaching it this way, it made their wedding photography very enjoyable and relaxed and enabled us to make the most of the locations at the Chevin Hotel.

Jenna and Kyle were an absolute joy to work with and it's hard to imagine a more perfect match - each of them to the other and them to us, their wedding photographers.  They are so easy to get along with and they'd told us that they love the more arty style of wedding photographs which is something we love creating.  They were happy and enthusiastic about working through some ideas with us and for coming up with ideas of their own.

There were some beautiful and personal touches throughout this wedding.  Jenna wore her grandma's string of pearls, Kyle put lots of thought into putting together a box of little gifts for his bride and he had them delivered to her room by Vish, who we'd heard a lot about and who was described by Jenna as her friend and "bridesman".  As Vish is from South Africa, Jenna's gorgeous and vibrant flower arrangements around the venue included some from his homeland and after the speeches, this lovely man presented the newlyweds with a gift of a honeymoon in the Lake District.

We concentrated on getting the group photos, traditional couple shots and some fun images with the bridal party in the can before the wedding breakfast, planning to work with Jenna and Kyle and make the most of the beautiful locations during the afternoon and early evening.  We had to wait a long time for the sun to go down but by the time we headed off to work on the other side of the lake and in the woods, the light was much softer.

Jenna and Kyle's wedding photography at Chevin Country Park Hotel wouldn't have been complete without a few images on the spiral staircase and we got some crackers which we are really happy with.  We had a beautiful subject to work with and Kyle, you scrubbed up well too!

A huge thank you Mr and Mrs Oldfield for booking us to capture your wonderful day and for being so fabulous to work with.  We really can't wait to see your images come to life in what will be an amazing storybook album.

If you are looking for a Chevin Hotel wedding photographer, why not get in touch with us?  If you were lucky enough to share Jenna and Kyle's big day, please feel free to leave a comment and if you like our images, please give us a Like on Facebook.

Please note, all images are copyright and must not be copied or downloaded.  Thank you.

Wedding Photographer Rogerthorpe Manor | Rebecca & Simon

It seemed that summer had finally arrived just in time for Rebecca and Simon's big day and we couldn't believe our luck, with wall to wall sunshine all day long.  Beautiful weather certainly puts a smile on everyone's face and the couple couldn't have wished for a better day for their celebrations.

As Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, we love the venue and as their recommended photographers, we have a relationship with the staff that means a lot to us so it was great to be back, starting with Becky's preparations with her bridesmaids.  It was a hive of activity with a make-up and hair styling "production line" going on, as well as lots of laughter and a fair bit of champagne tasting (the girls, not the photographers)!

Simon arrived with his attendants and the warm weather meant everyone was in good spirits and up for some fun which is what we love - fun weddings and lovely people.  We kept Simon busy for a few minutes to take his mind off any pre-ceremony nerves and Simon, you obviously took notice of our advice on how to help us get the perfect ring shot for Becky.  You nailed it!

As professional West Yorkshire wedding photographers, meeting our clients' wishes is vital to us and we met with Becky and Simon a few weeks before their big day to talk about timings, what they had planned, important group photos and what they would ideally like from us.  It was fantastic to hear that their wedding photographs were extremely important to them and they gave us the freedom to suggest anything we wanted and said they would be happy to go along with any ideas we came up with.

Time was short between the end of the ceremony and the start of the wedding breakfast but with good co-operation from the guests, we just managed to complete all the groups, fun photos with a great bridal party, confetti and a few shots of the new Mr and Mrs Foster, planning to concentrate on their couple photo session later.

With a mid-day civil ceremony in the Lawrence Suite, meaning we had plenty of free time after the wedding breakfast, wall to wall sunshine and a fabulous, enthusiastic couple, we suggested to Becky and Simon a short journey out together for a few romantic and artistic photographs for them in a nearby rape field.  It's unusual for the rape to still be in bloom at the end of May but it seems that many plants are flowering later due to the exceptionally cold spring.  The vibrant yellow flowers made a spectacular backdrop for some special photographs for the couple and Simon was very complimentary as he watched us create some artistic portraits for his bride.

On our return to Rogerthorpe Manor, the couple had some time out with their guests to enjoy a bottle or two of Foster's lager, before Becky was raring to go again.  She gathered her friends together for some fun girlie shots before giving us a twirl in her gorgeous princess dress.

A most sincere thank you Becky and Simon, not only for choosing us to capture your beautiful wedding day but for being such a pleasure to work with, for smiling all day and for giving us such great feedback.  We hope you love your preview images and we look forward to seeing you soon.
