Fixby Hall, Huddersfield Wedding Photographers - Katy & Chris

Katy and Chris chose to marry at Chris's local church.  We photographed a wedding there several years ago and it was an image from that wedding that Katy found online and loved. That one image led to her contacting us and we were extremely happy when the couple booked us to be their All Hallows' Church, Almondbury wedding photographers, on the warmest day of the year so far.  

We started at Katy's parents' home and compared to most bridal preparation mornings, it was very quiet and calm as Katy got ready.  We photographed the girlie bits and pieces, including a pair of striking red canvas shoes with white polka dots, embellished with hearts on the fronts.  We did notice that Chris had sneaked his aftershave in with Katy's accessories and yes Chris, we did photograph it for you!

After we'd captured Katy having her make-up applied, we met the boys in Almondbury, in the Woolpack, across the road from the church.  As the pub sign was featured in the background of the image that first captured Katy's attention, it was essential to do something similar with Chris and his attendants, who had some of their own ideas about what would make a good shot!  The ceremony in this beautiful church was conducted by a lovely and very accommodating lady vicar, who allowed us to work unhindered both from the front and the back, before the couple came out into the sunshine as the new Mr & Mrs Smith, to be congratulated and showered with confetti.  

As Fixby Hall wedding photographers, we had some ideas in mind for locations for Katy and Chris's photographs once we had the group shots in the bag.  An early wedding ceremony in summer and being lucky with the weather has so many advantages, not least of all the long daylight hours which allows the photography to be more relaxed and lets the couple have plenty of time to mingle and chat with their guests.  We photographed the wedding breakfast room, which looked beautiful, and credit has to go to Chris for all his hard work dressing it the day before the wedding.  After the speeches, we borrowed the bridesmaids for some fun shots, and Wayne and Mark, our friends from Class Laser Clay, kept the guests entertained.  We spent some time photographing Katy, in her spectacular princess dress, and then Chris joined his bride for a short couple photo session before the evening party started.

Environmental Portrait Photography Yorkshire - Victoria & Luke

We met up with Tor and Luke recently for their Yorkshire environmental portrait session, and it was one of those days when we had the dilemma of either bringing out the brollies or rescheduling.  After a chat with the couple about their plans for their summer wedding at Rudding Park, we had a peak out of the window and although it was dull, damp and threatening rain at any minute, we decided to go for it and we are so glad we did.

Tor suggested the location for the session and what a beautiful place it is!  As we parked up, we were met with the sight of a stunning woodland setting with a carpet of bluebells stretching as far as you could see.  The light was gorgeous for photography and with a fantastic couple to work with, we enjoyed a perfect Yorkshire location photography session.  The woodland has some great areas for photographs and it's not often you get a couple suggesting climbing a tree or swinging from a rope swing!

We've had the pleasure of getting to know Tor well and we've photographed her on several occasions.  She's a natural in front of the camera, but this was a first for Luke.  We think he quite enjoyed himself and it was great to watch the couple having fun and being themselves.  We can't wait for their big day in July!  Cilla, their much loved bulldog, just put up with being in some of the photographs but she definitely enjoyed the walk!

Environmental Portrait Photographers West Yorkshire - Emma & David

Whenever we have Yorkshire environmental portrait photography planned, the weather is very much on our minds and also on the minds of our clients.  Emma made a point of mentioning that she had her fingers crossed for a nice day for her and Dave's portrait session at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.  Sometimes you get really lucky and today was one of those days which couldn't have been more perfect - a glorious warm spring day but not too sunny, a location which offered us so many backdrops for photographs and made us spoilt for choice, and most important of all, a fantastic, fun and very enthusiastic couple. When all these things come together, working outside is just wonderful and an opportunity to enjoy the warm weather, beautiful surroundings and great company.

Emma and Dave marry in autumn 2015 at Waterton Park Hotel and we are very lucky to be their wedding photographers.  They will choose one of their environmental session images for their Save the Date cards and we suspect it won't be an easy task as there are so many lovely images to choose from.

Allerton Castle Wedding Photographers - Emily & Andy

It's always a pleasure to be wedding photographers at Allerton Castle and we were really excited when Emily and Andy booked us to photograph their big day at this spectacular Yorkshire wedding venue.  A dream venue it certainly is, but it's also one which requires the skill and experience of a professional Allerton Castle wedding photographer or better still, two photographers, to get the very best from it.  The Great Hall is extremely dark with its oak panelling and the registrars insist on no flash during the ceremony, but Alex got some gorgeous shots, capturing the atmosphere as Emily and Andy exchanged vows and wedding rings by candlelight, with Janet documenting the proceedings from the gallery.

The weather was very similar to that we had when we met up with them for their pre-wedding consultation a few weeks earlier - cold and windy.  However, the memorial garden does offer some shelter and this is where we photographed the family groups before moving on to the couple's photo session before the wedding breakfast.  As the guests were invited to sit for dinner, this was the ideal time to make the most of that iconic staircase which is such a feature of weddings at Allerton Castle.  Emily made a gorgeous, elegant bride in her couture dress and full length veil.

The wedding breakfast room looked beautiful in blue and white and the cake was something pretty special too, kept a secret from Emily and organised and chosen by Andy as a surprise for his bride.  After the speeches, we dashed outside to make the most of the remaining daylight.  The wind had dropped just a little, it wasn't quite as cold and we were able to get a few more couple photographs, including a lovely sequence of images as Emily and Andy walked hand in hand back to the castle.

The evening party started with the couple taking to the floor for their first dance and then everyone partied to a Ceilidh band.  We decided that it was well worth walking through a field full of sheep to set up for some night shots before we left, and Emily was very sensible and switched her stunning but very high heeled shoes for a pair of flats before joining us.
