Wedding photography at Aldborough church, Boroughbridge and Hazlewood Castle in Yorkshire on 17 July 2010 for Kate and Chris
As Yorkshire wedding photographers, we were delighted to return to Hazlewood Castle for the second Saturday in a row for the wedding reception and celebrations of Kate and Chris following their marriage at the picturesque Aldborough Church in Boroughbridge near York, but our first stop of the day was at Kate's dad, Tony's house where the girls were getting ready. Bridesmaid Hayley obliged as make-up artist for Kate who looked amazing. As the girls were doing their make-up in the same room as we were taking photographs of Kate's gorgeous Pronuptia gown and accessories, there was lots of chatting and laughter which made for a very enjoyable hour or so.
Next stop was just down the road to meet the boys at the church. Unfortunately, it was raining by this point but the boys didn't let it dampen their spirits and they were happy to have a few photographs outside under our white brollies!
The rain hadn't exactly stopped for Kate's arrival either, but it had slowed to a fine drizzle. Kate took it all in her stride, beaming through the window of the beautiful Bentley she and Tony had arrived in.
Aldborough church is beautiful inside and we were able to photograph from the back as Kate and Chris tied the knot. The drizzle had almost stopped in time for their exit as husband and wife and the pathway which leads from the church door to their waiting car made a great location for the confetti throwing before the new Mr and Mrs Stephenson made their journey to Hazlewood Castle.
A champagne reception and canapes awaited the guests and although it was breezy, the rain had finally stopped - perfect timing for Kate and Chris's arrival.
The Great Hall was dressed in a lovely purple and white colour scheme, courtesy of a friend of Kate's who travelled all the way from London to decorate the room for her.
Hazlewood Castle is one of those wedding venues where you are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing locations for photographs. Kate and Chris were such an amazing couple to work with, very relaxed and very enthusiastic about their photographs. Today was the culmination of a romance that had been conducted long distance, with Chris in America and Kate in England for long periods of time, making this a very special day to be part of.
A wedding in the height of summer with long hours of daylight, good weather (eventually!) one of the best wedding venues in Yorkshire and a fantastic, romantic couple!
Beautiful Kate in the Elderflower Suite...
After we had captured Kate and Chris's first dance, he insisted that we should be on a photograph with them. We're not usually on THAT side of the camera but thank you guys - it was a privilege to share your day. We look forward to meeting up with you on your return from honeymoon and to seeing your wedding images brought together in a gorgeous storybook wedding album. We also wish you every happiness when you start your new lives in America.
