Jenny and Danny booked us as their Burntwood Court Hotel Barnsley wedding photographers quite a long time ago but the time passed so quickly and before we knew it, we were meeting up with them to discuss their timings and plans for the day, ideas for photographs and who they wanted on their group shots.
The Met Office had predicted heavy downpours and thunder storms for last Saturday. We usually try to avoid listening to the weather forecast ahead of a wedding because it's the one thing no one has any control over. Everyone, especially Jenny, was over the moon when the sun shone all day and although glaring sunshine isn't necessarily a favourite of wedding photographers, it's much more welcome than torrential rain!
Jenny got ready with her bridesmaids at the hotel so everything on their day was at one venue. We caught up with Jenny as she had her make-up done, Janet documenting this and Alex working in the next room, photographing shoes, jewellery, perfume and flowers. Two photographers really do make a difference to what can be captured on a wedding day and we always work together.
We went downstairs to find Danny and the boys already waiting for us in reception but we did nip into the civil ceremony room for a quick peek and to take a couple of photographs as Jenny had been asking if the room was already dressed and what it looked like. Stunning!
If Danny was nervous about the ceremony he certainly didn't let on and we kept him and the boys busy for a while around the outside of Burntwood Court before we went to chat with the registrars about their views on photography. There were no restrictions so we could get on and enjoy documenting Jenny and Danny as they tied the knot.
The couple had allowed quite a long period of time between the end of their ceremony and sitting for the wedding breakfast. They had a singer during the drinks reception and wanted to be able to relax and enjoy listening to her before we started on the formal photographs. Once we'd finished these, there was still lots of time for us to have some fun with the couple, best man, ushers and bridesmaids before we left everyone for a short time to photograph Jenny and Danny together.
The wedding breakfast room really did look spectacular with its bright pink colour scheme with tall vases containing white feathers. Very Las Vegas which also happens to be where the new Mr and Mrs Welsh are honeymooning.
We captured the speeches before dinner and returned later to find many of the guests enjoying the early evening sunshine. As wedding photographers at Burntwood Court Hotel, we know that there are open fields behind the venue and this was our choice of location for Jenny and Danny's second photo session. This was when we spotted the rainbow and although it wasn't a complete one, it was lovely to be able to feature it in some of their images before it disappeared.
