A few slightly spring like days in January were a welcome change from the freezing cold and very long winter we've had and Jamie's wish for exactly the same sort of day for her wedding came true. As Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, we love working at this venue and we knew that Jamie and Gary really wanted to make the most of the beautiful gardens for their photographs. Jamie had been weather watching for quite a while during the run up to the big day and we were so happy for the couple when the forecast turned out to be a good one.
Whilst Jamie was out having her make-up done, we concentrated on photographing her dress and all the other important bridal bits and pieces before we set off to meet Gary at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel. Arriving slightly ahead of our scheduled time and with the Lawrence Suite all finished and beautifully dressed by Stacey Benson from Chantilly Flowers, it was nice to be able to capture a few images of the room before we started photographing the boys.
With bright sunshine and a lovely spring day, the boys were in good spirits and great fun to work with. Jamie's little brother Harrison, when asked his name, responded with "Batman!" which had us all in fits of laughter.
Although Jamie was accompanied to her wedding by her proud granddad Steve and sister Charlie, her brother Jordan had the privilege of giving Jamie away. We really enjoyed capturing Jamie and Gary's civil ceremony, conducted by the Pontefract registrars, who are always encouraging and pleasant to work with.
The couple had requested quite a few group photographs and had allowed additional time for us to complete them. Theirs was one of those weddings where every single one of the guests worked with us and this meant that we flew through all the groups and the first couple photo session, still leaving time to spare for Jamie and Gary to mingle with their guests before the receiving line, whilst we photographed the Lawrence Suite, now set up for the wedding breakfast.
Once dinner and some very emotional speeches were over, the new Mrs and Mrs Coleman joined us for their second photo session and although it seems wrong to complain about it being sunny, by now the sun had gone down and the light was softer, enabling us to work around areas of the garden which hadn't been ideal due to the harsh lighting conditions earlier in the day.
Jamie and Gary had asked for some evening photographs outside and as there is a perfect time to take these, we'd arranged to set up and wait and call them outside at just the right time. Our coverage of their beautiful day ended after their first dance together.
Thank you to you both for choosing us as your West Yorkshire wedding photographers and for being such a pleasure to work with. The enthusiasm you put into your photographs was a delight to share. Our sincere thanks also to your lovely families.
