Wedding Photography at Hornington Manor | Karen and Jamie's Wedding

Karen and Jamie are such a lovely couple, friends of Tor and Luke whose wedding we photographed a couple of years back, and it was they who recommended us to be the wedding photographers at Hornington Manor in Bolton Percy, near York, for the first time.  Tor made all the bouquets and Luke drove Karen to the church, cracked open the Champagne after the ceremony and transported the newlyweds to Hornington Manor. Don't you just love weddings which are full of fun, when there's lots of laughter, and when the bride's radiant smile never leaves her beautiful face?  Weddings like these are an absolute joy to be a part of and this was certainly how we felt about Karen and Jamie's day.   The girls got ready at the venue and Karen had carefully planned everything and timed it so that her hair was styled before make-up started and make-up was finished in plenty of time to allow her to get into her dress and for us to capture her proud dad's first look.  In fact, Karen did everything she could to make sure that we could photograph the important bridal preparations with time to spare, before we had to leave to meet Jamie and the lads and start the wedding photography at St Mary's church in Riccall, our first time working at this church but not the first time we had met Reverand Loftus, such a nice man who conducted the marriage of Tor's brother, Ali, to Amelia, the first couple from a circle of family and friends, several of whom have since booked us to photograph their weddings, which has made us very happy indeed. Anyway, back to Karen and Jamie's gorgeous wedding, with a funny, giggly couple, beautiful weather, a venue surrounded by open countryside, a bridal party who were up for a laugh, and Brazilian fire dancers who put on an after dinner show with a difference and who worked closely with us to co-ordinate some beautiful evening photos for Mr and Mrs Bingle.  Oh and did we mention that Jamie used to work in the wedding industry?  That came in really useful as he knew how to plan his own to perfection!  A massive thank you guys for choosing us for your Hornington Manor wedding photography.  We know you had a blast and so did we!

Wedding Photography at Hazlewood Castle | Hayley & Jonathan's Wedding

The last Saturday in July is one of the most popular wedding dates and Hayley and Jonathan were quick and secured us as their Hazlewood Castle wedding photographers. We loved every minute spent with the couple and their guests, starting with an early morning civil ceremony in the Victoria Room.  After they had tied the knot, we tagged along as Hayley disappeared upstairs to get ready for the blessing, simultaneously having her hair styled and her make-up applied.  Some pretty impressive pampering!!  She had chosen a beautiful dress, gorgeous flowers, and a pair of rainbow shoes which reflected the theme the couple had chosen for their spectacular rainbow wedding day.  We caught up with the boys for their photo session before the blessing in the chapel of St Leonard, conducted by Ian Walton.  He makes every service personal and relevant to each couple and because he welcomes and encourages professional wedding photography, believing as we do that these are the bride and groom's memories to look back on in years to come, we love working with him.  Hayley and Jonathan were a delightful couple to photograph.  Their enthusiasm and their willingness to work with us before and after their wedding breakfast resulting in plenty of gorgeous Hazlewood Castle wedding photographs.  Their obvious affection for each other and the feedback we received whilst we photographed them around this lovely venue made for a very good time and Jonathan's testimonial on our Facebook page the day after made us feel a bit humble but extremely proud.  The couple had a rainbow umbrella which they really wanted to use in some of their photographs.  We were delighted when they presented it to us as a gift immediately after we'd completed the photographs.  Thank you so much guys, we love it!  We headed back to the castle, photographed Pedally Steve - if you're looking for something original and impressive, check him out - and then the first dance, ending our coverage with some photographs outside in the courtyard as dusk fell.  What can we say Mr and Mrs Oakes, except thank you for booking us, for being stars all day, for the unexpected and very welcome gift, and for your kind words.  We can't wait to see you on your return from honeymoon.  Your album will be a cracker!

Hazlewood Castle Wedding Photographers - Sarah and Richard

It was a pleasure to be wedding photographers at St Giles' Church, Copmanthorpe for Sarah and Richard, and to have the opportunity to work again at this pretty village church, which is only a couple of minutes away from Sarah's parents' home, where she got ready for the ceremony, along with her bridesmaids and baby daughter, Eleanor.  

We took the short drive to the church to meet Richard and after the dreadful weather of the previous week, it was fantastic to enjoy a warm and dry day.  Not only was this a very special day for the couple, it was also a very special day for Eleanor, as she was christened during the same ceremony.  We were joined by our good friends Ken and Carol Wilson from Phase 5 Productions, who captured the day on film.  We always enjoy working with them and they do a fantastic job, leaving us to get on with the photography whilst they concentrate on capturing events as they unfold.  

After the ceremony and an impressive confetti throwing effort by the guests, we left for Hazlewood Castle, where glasses of Pimm's were waiting in the courtyard for the guests to enjoy on arrival.  The canapés looked good too!  As Sarah and Richard arrived in their Beauford, we did feel a few spots of rain but thankfully, it didn't amount to anything, meaning that as planned, we could photograph the groups outside in the courtyard, our favourite location for these.  As Hazlewood Castle wedding photographers, we are always spoilt for choice for backdrops to use in our photographs, but as time was short, featuring these in the couple photographs had to wait until later.  

The vibrant Cadbury purple that the Sarah and Richard had chosen as their colour scheme looked stunning in the Great Hall, and we set aside a few minutes to capture an image of the whole room, the details on the tables, and the cake before the receiving line started, followed by speeches before the wedding breakfast, which we think is a brilliant idea if any of the speakers are at all nervous.

With a few groups left to do after dinner, Sarah mentioned the possibility of doing some fun shots with their group of friends.  We're always up for this and those guys really went for it, giving us a great sequence of images which will look fantastic in the couple's wedding album.

Once everyone had gone back inside, it was lovely to have some quiet time for some couple photos and bridal portraits, around the grounds of Hazlewood Castle, before the first dance and evening party.  It was great to see Russell Shaun, the swing singer again, who along with his band, entertained the guests.
