Wedding Photography at Bagden Hall for Amy and Chris

It was wonderful to be chosen by Amy and Chris as their Bagden Hall wedding photographers and for the second Saturday in a row we were joined by Andrew and Gail Charlton of A & G Productions who expertly captured the day on video.  We've really enjoyed getting to know Amy and Chris during the run up to their wedding.  Amy kept in touch with us throughout the planning and we even got to meet Ozzy, the couple's black labrador, when we met up for our final meeting to discuss plans for the day.  He also made a brief appearance late afternoon on the big day, to have his photographs taken with his mum and dad.  After covering bridal preparations we headed off to the church to meet Chris and his attendants and we'd just managed to get as far as the groom's portraits when the wet stuff made an unwelcome appearance.  Chris didn't let it bother him too much but it certainly bothered Amy when the rain got heavier and it absolutely belted it down just as she arrived!  It continued to rain throughout the service and as the newly weds exited the church, but the sun came out as they reached the gate to a volley of confetti, it stayed out as we started the Bagden Hall wedding photography and then it chucked it down again just as we started the family groups, forcing us to work inside.  Thankfully, things looked up later in the day and we breathed a massive sigh of relief!  Amy and Chris are such a lovely couple and we really wanted to do the best for them and make the most of the locations that Bagden Hall has to offer, without needing to get the brollies out!  After the wedding breakfast and speeches we got some gorgeous images of the two of them and of our beautiful bride in her stunning dress and featuring a spectacular bouquet from Serendipity. The flowers were a big part of Mr and Mrs Colley's wedding and Sally, the florist, really had gone to town on them, including a stunning display over the fireplace, which we featured in some of Amy and Chris's wedding photos. It was a pleasure to be part of this wedding, in the company of such a great couple, and surrounded by such friendly guests. Amy and Chris have chosen a large Italian storybook album and it's going to be absolutely amazing! Thank you very much for allowing us to share your wedding day and congratulations on your marriage guys.

Wedding Photography Bagden Hall | Melanie and Richard

Summer seemed to take a long time to arrive this year but it finally burst in on Melanie and Richard's wedding day.  As experienced Bagden Hall wedding photographers we know that this venue has beautiful grounds offering great locations for photographs but during the early afternoon the light was very harsh, meaning that certain photographs we had planned would wait until after the wedding breakfast when the light had softened.  Melanie got ready at her parents' home and we were warmly welcomed by her mum and sister, as Melanie had her hair and make-up done.  After we'd taken photographs of this, Melanie's gorgeous dress and accessories and a few lovely shots as Melanie's dad saw his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time, we left the girls to their final preparations and set off to meet Richard and his best man to begin the wedding photography at Bagden Hall. Before the wedding Melanie wouldn't let anyone into the secret of what kind of car she and her dad were going to arrive in.  She had chosen an elegant Rolls Royce from Rolls Hire Vintage Limousines.  The couple married in an intimate civil ceremony in the restaurant with their closest family and friends around them.  Afterwards Melanie and Richard left everyone and enjoyed a ride in the Rolls Royce and when they arrived back we worked through their group photographs.  By the time we'd finished the groups the restaurant had been transformed and once we'd photographed this, the cake and the table details, the receiving line started.  As creative Wakefield wedding photographers we're always on the look out for opportunities for stunning wedding photographs which make our work stand out, and as soon as we'd arrived at Bagden Hall we'd spotted the meadow near the lake.  It always looks different depending on the time of year and now it was full of bright yellow buttercups. There had been no time to make the most of it earlier in the day and in any case, the early evening brought with it beautiful soft light, a bit of time and the opportunity to get something really special.  The guests were treated to a selection of delicious ice creams, as Melanie and Richard had hired Graham and Lisa of A Taste if Italy to come along in the evening and set up their cart in the grounds.    Apparently, the banana flavour was the couple's favourite and the strawberry was delicious too!  Mr and Mrs Tanfield danced their first dance together and we ended their coverage with a some photographs of the two of them at the entrance to Bagden Hall.  Thank you so much for booking us to capture your special day.

Getting married at Bagden Hall?  We would love to hear from you.

Bagden Hall Wedding Photography | Heather and Micheal

When Heather told us that we would be wedding photographers at the church of St John the Evangelist in Golcar, the name sounded familiar and when we met up with the couple a few weeks before to discuss their Huddersfield wedding photography, we realised that we had photographed a wedding there once before, quite a few years ago. We remembered a particular location at the church and we suggested something to Heather which she was really enthusiastic about.  This visit to the church was very different though because unlike last time, we were lucky enough to have a lovely, friendly vicar who had no issues with us discretely photographing the ceremony, and as there are two of us, this meant closer shots from the front as Heather and Mick exchanged vows and rings, and the longer shots from the back.

We started the Bagden Hall wedding photography as a very excited Heather got ready with her mum and bridesmaids.  The plan was that afterwards we would all make the trip over to her parents' house in Golcar, just a couple of minutes from the church, for photographs with her mum, dad and bridesmaids.  As is often the case, the bridal preparations ran later than everyone had hoped but we arrived at the house ahead of Heather and just managed to grab a few quick pictures there before we had to rush off to the church to meet the boys.

The weather forecast was a mixed bag but luckily everything fell into place.  We had a particular  artistic bridal portrait in mind for Heather before we all left the church and we got this by the skin of our teeth!  The shot was set up and captured literally seconds before the heavens opened and everyone run for cover.  We had to make a call on whether to photograph the groups inside the church or risk waiting until we arrived at Bagden Hall. Heather and Mick's preference was very much in favour of doing as many photos as possible at the venue, in the gardens, so we decided to chance it, knowing that if the worst came to the worst, Tom, the wedding co-ordinator, would have a room available for us to work in.

We arrived at Bagden Hall to completely different weather and a smiling Tom.  He's absolutely great, looks after everyone so well, is very considerate to us, and we always seem to be on the same page when it comes to the timings and the fact that we need enough time to do a good job for the couple.  Thank you very much Tom.  He was certainly under a bit more pressure than usual because Heather works in event planning and knows her stuff, but her delighted and emotional reaction when she and Mick came into the room just before the wedding breakfast and saw it all set up must have made Tom's day!

After the wedding breakfast and speeches, we only had a short period of daylight remaining for the new Mr and Mrs Brown's couple photo session in the grounds and there were some important places to use a backdrops before the first dance, the folly being one of them.  We hope that Heather and Mick love the results.

Our congratulations and very best wishes to you both!  If you were a guest, please feel free to leave a comment.
