We were over the moon when we heard that Claire and Garry had set a date for their wedding. The couple had planned for very informal celebrations and originally they weren't going to have a professional Dewsbury wedding photographer. By the time they changed their minds and contacted us, it wasn't long to go to their big day, but we were delighted that we were available as we have been friends with Claire and her wonderful family for many, many years.
The couple have a beautiful home in a spectacular countryside setting and this was where Claire, her sister, Karen, and mum, Pat, got ready. Claire had chosen a stunning tea length dress which suited her perfectly. She was in it and ready with plenty of time to spare, meaning we could photograph the girls in the garden before we left to start the Dewsbury Town Hall wedding photography with Garry and his best man, Bob.
This was a late civil ceremony, the last one of the day, and we knew we were on the clock as the Town Hall closes at 5.30pm. We completed the family groups inside before gathering everyone together on the steps for a big group shot and confetti. This left us just enough time to whisk the new Mr and Mrs Knight back inside and upstairs where there is some lovely architecture and stained glass windows which we featured in their photographs. The tight timings meant working fast but we got some beautiful images of Claire and Garry together and a couple of fashion styled images of Claire before we were evicted.
We were invited to celebrate with everyone afterwards at Samarkand Indian Restaurant in Heckmondwike, Claire and Garry's favourite place to eat, and we enjoyed some delicious food and great company. It was lovely to catch up with Claire's family and meet Garry's for the first time. There were no formalities like speeches or first dance, just a fun and relaxed evening, surrounded by family and friends, exactly how Claire and Garry wanted their big day to be. Claire never stopped smiling and she kept saying what an amazing day it had been.
