We hit a record number of winter 2018 weddings, with the busiest December we've ever had, kicking off on the first day of the month with the wonderful Lauren and Rory's celebrations. Not only are they a fabulous, happy, friendly and genuinely nice couple, we got to be Oulton Hall wedding photographers again, and we loved every minute spent capturing their day at this gorgeous venue. Lauren got ready at her mum and dad's home and we factored in extra time as Lauren was determined to be in her dress well before we had to leave for the wedding venue, so that we could capture some emotional moments as her proud dad saw his daughter as a bride for the very first time. We know that a wedding day is going to be a cracker (Christmas cracker!!) when the bride and groom don't stop smiling and when their families are equally lovely to be around. Lauren's dad really does deserve a special mention because he did a fantastic job of rallying the guests for photographs and actually took over calling out names from Janet so we could both concentrate on the getting the group set-ups in the can as quickly as possible. Malcolm, you were a star! Fancy a job? So with December's arrival came Santa's sleigh parked above the main hotel entrance, the spectacular Christmas tree in the main lounge, and the drizzle, but when it comes to wedding photography at Oulton Hall we feel really lucky to have all those beautiful locations inside. The speeches were both hilarious and emotional and it was obvious how much love these families have for each other. We enjoyed some quiet time after dinner, photographing the couple on the gallery and staircase, our favourite time at a wedding, when the formalities are done, everyone's been fed, the groom's inevitable nerves as he anticipates standing up and delivering his speech are a distant memory, and there is some time to go off and do our "thing", creating some beautiful, romantic signature portraits to take pride of place in a stunning wedding album. Thanks a million Lauren and Rory for booking us and for being such a pleasure to work with!
