Wedding Photographers Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel - Fern and Shane

We were back as Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers recently to capture Fern and Shane's big day at this lovely local venue, where we always receive a warm welcome from the staff, and where we love working.  The grounds are so beautifully maintained that the couple and their guests really wanted to enjoy them and we wanted to make the most of them in Fern and Shane's Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photography. They were pretty unlucky with the weather and the forecast suggested that we would be forced to work inside during the drinks reception.  Not something any of us wanted but you have to work with what you get and what we got was heavy rain during the morning, which didn't matter, and straight after the civil ceremony, which did, especially when daylight hours are short.  But sometimes you get a break and a couple who keep smiling and who won't let the weather spoil their big day.

We headed up to room 13 where the girls were getting ready and we photographed all the pretty details, including a gorgeous and very elegant dress, a pair of extremely high heeled shoes, and a fabulous pair of bright pink trainers that Fern planned to wear during the evening party when the high heels had taken their toll!  The rain stopped briefly and then started again, but by the time we got downstairs it had stopped once more, giving a welcome break to photograph the boys outside in the grounds.

After a very touching civil ceremony in the Lawrence Suite, a glance out of the window confirmed it was bucketing down, so we set up our portable studio lighting and photographed the formal groups inside. The rain had eased by the time we'd finished them giving us an opportunity to get outside for some couple photos and bridal portraits.  With only a short period of time left before the wedding breakfast, we had to work fast and Fern's mum, Anne, and best man, Josh, did a brilliant job of getting all the guests out onto the lawn whilst we did this, so that we could capture a big group photo of everyone, followed by some confetti shots, which were important to the couple but are the things that usually have to be missed if the weather is really awful.  We are truly grateful to all the guests for not letting the wet grass stop them from taking part and to Fern and Shane for working so enthusiastically with us and for trusting us to come through for them despite the weather.

We'd been keeping an eye on things during the run up to the wedding so that we had an idea of the perfect time for twilight photographs.  The wedding breakfast and speeches had finished well before then and we knew we would have a window of opportunity to get Fern and Shane outside before it was pitch dark.  Trouble was it was raining again but rather than miss the chance, we decided to ask them if they fancied going out anyway, under one of our white umbrellas.  As we got outside to set up, the rain stopped for just long enough for us to get some gorgeous, romantic evening photographs and a "dip" shot that Fern desperately wanted and thought she wouldn't get.

The new Mr and Mrs Milford had some photographs taken in the bridal suite where we were joined by a pair of wooden giraffes!  Fern loves giraffes and these two were a very special wedding present.  We captured the couple's first dance which featured an exploding balloon, and the guests as they partied, and as we left we breathed a massive sigh of relief that we'd managed to get outside after all!

Thank you Fern and Shane for being such a pleasure to spend the day with.  We look forward so much to seeing you when you come back from honeymoon.  Please feel free to leave a comment if you wish, and share the images with our details kept on them.

Rogerthorpe Manor Wedding Photography - Cheryl and Kevin

We're always happy to be Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers and we were delighted to be chosen to capture Cheryl and Kevin's special day at this beautiful wedding venue.

We arrived at the couple's home where make-up and hair styling were in full swing and we received a warm welcome from Cheryl and her maid of honour, Dawn, who, along with best man, Neil, did so much to make sure that everything ran smoothly and that Cheryl and Kevin had a wonderful wedding day.  It's lovely to capture all those pretty girly details before we start our photo session with the groom and his attendants. There is always a pair of very important shoes to photograph but our bride had two pairs - one pair of comfortable, classic, satin wedding shoes and one pair of spectacular but very high purple shoes which she favoured but was doubtful of being able to wear all day.  What do you but photograph both pairs!

We left to start the Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photography with the boys, keeping our fingers crossed for the weather to hold out.  With a 4pm ceremony just a couple of days before the clocks went back and a very tight timeline between the end of the ceremony and the start of the wedding breakfast, we knew we'd have to work fast.  Dry weather is right at the top of the list of things you want on any wedding day but it's even more welcome with late weddings at this time of year.   Everything fell into place, the weather hung on, just, Cheryl and her dad arrived early, the guests were quick to come when we needed them, Cheryl and Kevin were incredibly easy going and worked perfectly with us to fit in as much as possible, and Neil and Dawn were brilliant attendants, helping gather guests together for groups.

After the civil ceremony in the Cawthorne Suite, conducted by the Pontefract registrars, who, without exception, are wonderful to work with, everyone made their way outside for the big group photo which we thought we might not get as it was very dark and gloomy and it looked like the heavens would open at any moment.  We did our best to ignore the threat of rain and whizzed through the group photos and confetti shots before spending some time with the new Mr and Mrs Morgan around the grounds for their photographs.  Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photography has a lot to offer, with immaculate gardens and some lovely areas to work, especially when there is just one wedding, as this means you can take advantage of the main lawned area and the rear garden too.

A late wedding breakfast meant that it was almost dark by the time everyone went inside but we breathed a massive sigh of relief that it had stayed dry and allowed us to photograph outside.  We captured a few after dark images once the speeches were finished, and we ended with Cheryl and Kevin's first dance together, before a hog roast buffet was served.

We are so grateful to this lovely couple for booking us to photograph their wedding and we have to mention their gorgeous little daughter, Isobel, who added bucket loads of cuteness to her mum and dad's celebrations.  If you'd like us to be your Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, please call us on 01977 730159, and why not follow us on Facebook.  Thank you very much.

Wedding Photographer Rogerthorpe Manor | Lynsey and Gary

We know that Lynsey and Gary are anxiously awaiting a preview of their wedding images so here goes!  As regular Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, when we work at this gorgeous venue it's always a pleasure.  We are also extremely lucky to be recommended by the owners and staff who we have a great relationship with.  They pull out all the stops to make sure the bride, groom and their guests have a brilliant day and they also give us a lot of help when we photograph there.  Sadly, the weather forecast for Lynsey and Gary's big day was pretty grim and this is always just as disappointing for us as it is for our couples.  We really care about them and just like the Rogerthorpe Manor staff, we will leave no stone unturned to do a really good job, even in difficult conditions.

We arrived at the venue prepared for having to work mostly indoors and only venture out with Lynsey and Gary tucked under umbrellas, as the rain was so heavy.  Although the English climate is unpredictable, it's rare to have a wedding day when the rain doesn't let up, but we were convinced that this was going to be one of those days.  Janet, one of the senior staff, must have had the same thoughts but rather than just leave it to us to sort out, she'd already arranged for the Rose Room to be cleared of furniture, saving us precious time and giving us somewhere to photograph Gary and his attendants before the ceremony and the smaller family groups afterwards.  We have to thank Janet for being so helpful and although things turned out well in the end, the Rose Room came in very useful.

Lynsey was unhappy when we met up with her in the bridal suite.  She had been worrying about the weather all week.  As professional West Yorkshire wedding photographers, we have to work with whatever the weather throws at us and after some reassurance that we would still get good photographs and that we had a room to photograph the groups in, our lovely bride's spirits were lifted a bit.

The civil ceremony in the Lawrence Suite was beautiful and emotional and it was clear how overjoyed the couple were that they had finally tied the knot, becoming Mr and Mrs Ridgway, and ending the ceremony with a spectacular lingering kiss!  Much nicer to photograph than the blink and you'll miss it peck!  A quick check outside confirmed it was still raining so we decided to start with photos in the Rose Room and see whether the weather would give us a break!  We had a gut feeling it wouldn't but as we were working, one of the guests announced that the rain had stopped, enabling us to get outside and photograph the larger groups in the garden.  However, the grass was absolutely soaking wet and we wondered whether we dare risk asking everyone to go on the lawn for the big group photo and combined confetti and bubbles shots.  We ran it by Lynsey and as these photographs were something she really wanted, she agreed to go for it.  We really can't tell you guys how happy we were to get these images for you and thank you for being such good sports!  We didn't hear a single complaint about heels sinking into the grass!

The rest of the day couldn't have been better.  The rain stayed away, the grass dried up, the bridal party were up for a laugh and Lynsey and Gary were brilliant to work with.  The couple have four beautiful daughters between them and Nirvana had written a very touching tribute to her mum and Gary, which was read out during the speeches, after which we had the chance to make the most of the grounds for some fun photos before we headed off with Lynsey and Gary for their romantic photo session.

We're so delighted that the rain stopped for you and we look forward to designing a beautiful storybook of your favourite images.  If you were a guest at Lynsey and Gary's wedding, you are welcome to leave a comment, if you are getting married and thinking about professional Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photography, we would very much welcome your enquiry and if you would be kind enough to Like us on Facebook, we would be delighted.

We hope you enjoy the images which are copyright Alex & Janet Durasow.  This means they are protected by law and must not be copied, downloaded or have our details removed.  Thank you.
