We first met Craig and Caroline, Emelia's lovely mum and dad, when Craig was best man to Gareth and Melissa who's wedding we photographed at Oulton Hall in February. Emelia hadn't yet made an appearance but her arrival was expected within the following month and Craig and Caroline expressed an interest in having some new baby photographs taken as soon as possible after their baby was born. We were very excited when we got the call from Craig to tell us that he was a proud dad and soon afterwards, we welcomed the family for Emelia's first professional baby photo shoot. The ideal time for this is from birth to ten days old and we did just miss the boat with this, as the photographs were taken when Emelia was twelve days old. You can really see the difference once babies get past ten days - they sleep less, fidget more and refuse to be moulded into any shape other than the ones they prefer! However, we set aside plenty of time, got the studio warmer than usual and with lots of patience, we managed to get some beautiful shots when Emelia was awake and also when she cat napped. Such a gorgeous baby and a lovely family. We hope to have the pleasure of meeting Emelia for a second portrait session when she is sitting.

Wedding Photographer Yorkshire - Thank You Notes
We love our work as wedding photographers but it's so nice to hear that what we do is appreciated and we were delighted to receive not one, but two lovely messages from the same family recently. The first came from bride Becky Hammond who's wedding to Simon we photographed at Crow Hill last year and the second from Becky's sister, Laura.
"Morning Alex and Janet. Hope you're well. Well I managed not to tell my mum about the parent album. I gave it to her on Sunday (Mother's Day) and she was that surprised and overwhelmed she cried. She absolutely loves it and took it into work yesterday to show everyone. Simon's mum and dad also looked at theirs on Sunday and like everyone else that's seen it so far, they think it's fantastic. Can't wait to show the rest of the family now!! : ) Thank you very much for everything you did for us. Love Becky and Simon xx
"Hi Janet, thanks for the gorgeous album you put together for Bex and Si. We spent Mother's Day afternoon reliving the memories. It is so lovely. Whatever camera gear you guys have I want to steal it ; ) and then will need years and years of training of course : ) Lovely, lovely work from yourself and Alex. Once again, thank you from ALL the family for capturing a perfect day perfectly xx Laura Tyreman, Becky's sister

Wedding Photographer Hazlewood Castle - Charlotte and Chris
Hazlewood Castle on a beautiful spring day - stunning! As Yorkshire wedding photographers, it was fantastic to be there to share the celebrations as Charlotte and Chris tied the knot in a civil ceremony in the Old Dining Room but before that, we met up with a very relaxed and chilled out Charlotte as she got ready in the Tansy suite. We then kept Chris occupied getting a few shots around the grounds of Hazlewood before heading back upstairs in time to capture Charlotte's mum, Janice, lacing the back of her beautiful daughter's dress, before Charlotte's eldest son, Kurt, did the honours and accompanied his mum into the ceremony. After a whole week of lovely weather, we hoped that it would hold out for today and we weren't disappointed. Following the ceremony, the groups shots which the couple had requested were soon done and dusted, leaving us time to spend with the bridal party who were great fun to be with and definitely up for a laugh! After taking some pictures of Charlotte and Chris together, it was almost time to capture images of the Great Hall set up for the wedding breakfast. During the speeches, Charlotte paid a loving and very moving tribute to her new husband. We left everyone to enjoy dinner and during a wander around the grounds later, we were treated to a spectacular sunset. Charlotte and Chris joined us to make the most of it before the sun quickly disappeared below the horizon. Some beautiful evening shots in the courtyard followed before the couple took to the floor for their up tempo first dance to Florence and the Machine. A brilliant day and an amazing couple.

Pet Photographer in West Yorkshire - Maori
Having photographed Faye and Ken's wedding at Hazlewood Castle just over a year ago, their baby pug, Finn, last summer, followed by getting an enlargement of one of their wedding photos printed and framed as a surprise first wedding anniversary present from Faye to Ken, which was very appropriate as the first wedding anniversary is paper, we were asked if we fancied the challenge of taking some portraits of the couple's cat, Maori. Ken had said that it was unfair that they had a big frame containing three photographs of Finn and none of Mao! We were really looking forward to catching up with Faye and Ken anyway as they have become good friends and we decided to keep an open mind when it came to Mao's portrait session, as cats don't generally do what you tell them. Someone said to us recently that dogs have owners and cats have staff! With studio lighting and a black backdrop set up, we thought that the best approach was to just let Mao explore the studio and do his own thing in the hope that he'd settle somewhere in the right vicinity to get some decent shots. A long session of bribery followed, involving cat treats, lumps of cheese (which Mao loves) and a feathery cat toy dangled from a stick which Mao kept stalking and leaping on. We thought children could move quickly but Mao was like lightning so Alex had to be on the ball! With a few decent shots in the can, we decided to break for tea and huge Rolo cookies which Faye and Ken had brought along (delicious they were too) and leave Mao to do what he liked. Just as if he was at home, he jumped up on the studio's leather sofa, posed himself in a corner and stared at us with those amazing eyes of his before dropping off the sleep. So much for setting things up because we have to say, the best images from the session were the ones taken whilst he was relaxing on the sofa. What a beautiful cat he is - and he knows it!

Children's Photographer West Yorkshire - Ben and Emily
We recently had the pleasure of photographing Ben and his little sister Emily. When Ben was a baby, his mum and dad took him for three separate professional portrait sessions resulting in a folio of pictures to celebrate his first year and the idea was to repeat this for Emily and also to get some photographs of the two children together. Even though Emily was a bit off colour on the day of the session, she was still a joy to photograph, as was Ben who was an absolute gentleman, very co-operative and obviously devoted to his baby sister.

Wedding Photographer West Yorkshire - Thank You Cards
It was so lovely to receive two thank you cards from delighted couples last week, one of them accompanied by a stunning bouquet of flowers. We really appreciate it when our amazing brides and grooms (and a bride's mum and dad), take the time to express their thanks because after all, we are just doing the job we love!
The first card came from Natalie's mum and dad, Jude and Dave. We photographed Natalie and Chris's wedding at St Luke's church in Sharlton back in September.
"Dear Janet and Alex, thank you so much for taking Natalie and Chris's wedding photographs. It certainly took the stress away knowing that we were in safe hands. Can't wait to see the finished album. We are sure it will be amazing and a wonderful memento of a truly BEAUTIFUL DAY!!! Thank you so much."
The second came from Chloe and Sam who's December wedding day included a deep covering of snow. They married in Birkenshaw, Bradford and celebrated afterwards at Wentbridge House Hotel.
"Thank you for making our wedding day so perfect by taking the most amazing photos. We are both so happy with them especially the snow ones which are fantastic. You were both brilliant on the day and helped everything run smoothly. It was the perfect Christmas winter wedding with snow on top and we now have great photos to remember just how amazing it really was."
