What a cracker of a day we had as Patricia and Neil's Oulton Hall wedding photographers at the beginning of June. We first met them when they were checking out venues and they chose Oulton Hall after a conversation with us about what makes a great place for a wedding. Of course it comes down to how much you love a venue but it's also the friendliness of the staff and whether they will do everything they can to help things run smoothly, especially if the weather lets you down. Wedding photographers are always under pressure at the best of times and poor weather adds to that. Having staff who work with you, including the concierge who kept the red carpet down for the couple until after the wedding breakfast, and some great locations for indoor Oulton Hall wedding photography makes a massive difference, so it's these things, along with the beauty of the place, that makes this venue one of our favourites. We started at the couple's home, moving on to St Oswald's church in Methley for the ceremony, where the wonderful vicar, Sarah, a good friend of Patricia and Neil's, did the honours. She certainly took her place on our "best vicars' honours list", being incredibly lovely and also for making it clear that photography during the service was welcomed and encouraged. We again had the pleasure of working alongside videographer Jordan Lee, who we first met earlier this year and who is a genuinely nice guy and very considerate towards his photographer colleagues. Patricia and Neil's wedding day was packed full of special people and beautiful personal touches. Her best friend styled Patricia's hair, her daughter, Sarah, is a singer in a band, her husband is the drummer, and the band performed during the ceremony and in the evening. She has a voice that makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up; an incredibly talented lady, who also had the honour of walking her mum into church. Sarah's daughters were like little princesses and were a joy to photograph, the speeches brought tears to many eyes, and as Patrica and Neil go dancing it went without saying that these two wouldn't just be shuffling slowly around the dance floor! The ceremony ran longer than planned, as the couple have close connections to the church and sing in the choir, so they decided they wanted to include a mass. This did have an impact on the timings but during summer and theirs the only wedding day we've had so far this year when the rain stayed away, apart from a teasing light shower as we arrived at the church, we had loads of perfect soft daylight after dinner to concentrate on some couple portraits before everyone met up in the Claret Jug for the evening party. When we first met them Neil was very impressed with our beautiful twilight photos, so after the first dance we set up and whisked them back down to the hotel for a final set of images which will finish off their wedding album. Congratulations Mr and Mrs Hampshire, such wonderful, warm people. We loved working with you on your special day!
