King's Croft Hotel Wedding Photography - Kay and Gary

I've known Kay for many years and it was lovely to receive a call from her telling us that she and Gary were getting married.  They had chosen a local wedding venue for their civil ceremony and reception, and one that is very familiar to us as King's Croft wedding photographers.  We were delighted that they booked us to capture their special day.

We started off at the couple's home just a few minutes away from ours in Castleford. Amongst other pretty accessories, Kay had a pair of gorgeous lace shoes and a beautiful bottle of perfume.  She was fastened into her dress by Heidi from the bridal gown shop and we had plenty of time to capture this and a few portraits before we set off to meet Gary and start the wedding photography at the King's Croft Hotel.

Thankfully it stayed dry but it was very windy and we chose areas of shelter near the trees for the boys' photographs.  However, this was a bit risky and we had a good laugh with Gary and his best man, Neil, as we tried hard to avoid being hit by the numerous falling conkers!  Kay's daughter, Maddie, and best friend, Cheryl, arrived a few minutes ahead of Kay and her son, Ellis, who proudly gave his mum away, enabling us to capture some images of the girls before the ceremony got underway.

As always, the Pontefract registrars were brilliant, incredibly friendly and accommodating towards us, allowing us to capture some beautiful moments as Kay and Gary tied the knot, after which the newly married couple and their guests came outside to a Bucks Fizz and Becks drinks reception.  It was lovely to see quite a few familiar faces amongst the guests.

We left everyone for a short time so that the couple could have some photographs with the fabulous Rolls Royce they'd hired, expertly chauffeured by Robert Hepworth from Rolls Hire Vintage Limousines, who, as always, was very helpful to us in positioning the car exactly where we wanted it, before we returned to the main gardens for the group and couple photos.

Due to time constraints and the fact that it's getting dark much earlier now, Kay and Gary decided to use the time available and the remaining daylight for more photographs outside rather than having photographs of the King's Suite set up for the wedding breakfast.  We came back to capture their speeches and afterwards, as the light faded, we set up near the lake for some twilight photos, finishing our coverage after the new Mr and Mrs Carr had impressed everyone with their first dance waltz.

Thank you Kay and Gary for choosing us to capture your lovely autumn wedding day, and thank you Neil, Gary's best man, for the invaluable and much appreciated help you gave us.

Wedding Photography Rogerthorpe Manor - thank you from Sarah and Richard

It was a real pleasure to photograph Sarah and Richard's wedding in Barnsley and their reception at Rogerthorpe Manor and so nice to receive the following from Sarah when the couple returned from their honeymoon.

"Hi Alex and Janet, thank you a MILLION times for your hard work on our wedding day, you both made it so easy for me and Rich, and I was absolutely blown away by the slide show you played in the evening - I just couldn't believe it.  I know it's all down to your hard work.  The blog is absolutely great as well!  Really enjoyed reading it, and the preview pictures were once again stunning.  Thank you again and speak soon, Sarah x"

Nostell Priory Wedding Photography - Cheryl and Mark

The sunny April weather continued for the wedding of Cheryl and Mark.  As Nostell Priory wedding photographers, we know that this venue offers lots of great locations for photographs.  Cheryl had decided against bridal prep shots, so we started with Mark's photographs at the venue, along with his best men and best lady, his sister Kate.  With some time in hand and the marquee all set up as we arrived, we made the most of this opportunity to photograph the interior, along with lots of detail shots, saving precious time later.  The arrival of Lauren, Cheryl's sister, meant that Cheryl and her dad weren't far behind, arriving soon afterwards in a classic Rolls Royce.  The ceremony took place inside the house and we must thank the Pontefract registrars, as always, for their accommodating attitude in allowing us to capture some of those amazing moments as the couple exchanged vows and rings.  We must also say how much we appreciated Ron, Cheryl's dad, including us in his thanks during his speech.  We love having the longer daylight hours to work with as it gives us the opportunity to take the couple away for some time out and some romantic photographs together in the grounds.  Cheryl and Mark agreed to spending some time with us down by the lake, getting some relaxed photographs before we headed back towards the house for a  couple of arty bridal portraits on the stairs.  With the current trend for all things vintage and Cheryl's beautiful dress being a vintage style, we decided on a bit of a vintage feel for some of the images.  As always, we stayed to capture the first dance but when there is a band, we are happy to stay that bit longer to capture them as they are an important part of the wedding day.   The Beatles tribute band were fantastic, had no trouble filling the dance floor and we think it's great when guests get up and party, making for some fabulous fun images which capture the atmosphere of the evening celebrations.  Cheryl and Mark are now on honeymoon in New Zealand and we have loads of beautiful wedding photographs to show them on their return.

Wedding Photographers at the King's Croft, Pontefract

Wedding photography at the King's Croft Hotel, Pontefract for Adele and Peter on 31 August 2010

As wedding photographers in West Yorkshire, the King's Croft is one of our local wedding venues and today it was a pleasure to join Adele and Peter as they tied the knot.

We met up with Adele and were greeted by a hive of activity with a lot of people going about their preparations.  Adele had chosen a wedding gown to cause a stir - it was some impressive dress!  There were no flowers because Adele isn't keen on them, so instead, she chose a bouquet made entirely of clear and black crystals which complimented the very elegant black and white colour scheme perfectly.

This was the first wedding we have ever photographed where, due to his commitments, we had not met the groom before the day and as we hadn't had the opportunity to get to know Peter beforehand, we were aware that we needed to help him to quickly feel relaxed and confident with us.  We needn't have worried, as Peter was an absolute pleasure to spend time with, very quickly getting into the swing of things and really enjoying his photo session.

Adele and Peter's wedding plans hadn't exactly gone smoothly.  However, they couldn't have wished for a better day or better weather, so maybe it was meant to be.  As well as it being their wedding day, it was also very much about their two fantastic sons, with the focus of the day being very firmly on family.  Adele and Peter are an amazing couple and it's so obvious how devoted they are to eachother and to their boys.

Adele and Peter were married in a very personal civil ceremony in the Queen's Suite, beautifully conducted by the lovely Rosalyn Field who we love working with.  She does make a wedding ceremony very special.

A lucky chimney sweep greets the newly married couple.

After the group shots were in the bag, we took Adele and the rest of the girls for some fun.  The girls were really up for playing to the camera and as Pontefract wedding photographers who love a happy, relaxed wedding, this was something we really enjoyed.  You lot made us laugh!

After the wedding breakfast and the speeches, we made the most of the warm summer evening to have some fun with Adele and got her to really show off that stunning dress!

The new Mr and Mrs Middleton took to the floor for a fast and lively first dance - the first of four!  One for themselves, one for each of their boys and one for the Adele and the girls.  A wonderful wedding full of fun, love, laughter and the importance of family.  Congratulations to you both and a big thank you for allowing us the privilege of being there to capture your celebrations.

If you are family or friends of Adele and Peter, please leave a nice comment for them.

Wedding Photographer Rogerthorpe Manor

Wedding photography at Rogerthorpe Manor for Rachel and Todd on 8 August 2010

Our second wedding of the weekend saw a big improvement in the weather for the marriage of Rachel and Todd.  As Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers we always enjoy photographing weddings there.  With a great couple, a lovely venue and perfect photography weather, we knew we were going to have a fabulous day.

As wedding photographers in Castleford, we are literally two minutes away from Rachel and Todd's house, so we didn't have far to travel to meet up with Rachel, her bridesmaids and her mum Elaine to document Rachel getting ready before we set off for Rogerthorpe Manor in Badsworth to take Todd's mind off his pre-wedding jitters!  He looked very smart in his navy uniform.

We were delighted when we found out that Jane Milner from Pontefract was the registrar who would be marrying Rachel and Todd.  A free reign to photograph the ceremony as we wanted to get the best pictures for the couple is something Jane very generously allows and we and the couples she marries always appreciate her kindness.

Following the ceremony, the guests enjoyed champagne and canapes on the lawn.  The weather was kind and the large number of guests worked with us to get Rachel and Todd's group photographs done quickly and smoothly, leaving plenty of time for the newly married couple's photographs together and some fun with the bridal party.

Rachel had chosen a gorgeous ice blue colour scheme and the wedding breakfast room looked absolutely stunning!  The detail on the wedding cake was beautiful.

As the guests sat down for dinner, we were treated to a Sunday carvery in the Jacobean pub adjoining Rogethorpe Manor.  It was delicious!  Thank you Rachel and Todd for arranging this for us.

After the speeches, the couple joined us for some relaxed and romantic photographs together, enjoyed the company of their guests and made the most of the late summer sunshine.

Some of the little guests...

A casino is a great idea to entertain the guests in the evening.

Rachel and Todd didn't have a dance routine, but Todd spontaneously lifting Rachel and spinning her round made for some great shots!

Thank you Mr and Mrs Barry for inviting us to share your wedding day and for being such a pleasure to work with.  We had an wonderful day with you all and we are very excited about designing your Italian storybook wedding album.
