Hazlewood Castle Wedding Photographer | Hannah and Robert's Wedding

We had such a wonderful day as Hazlewood Castle wedding photographers for Hannah and Rob and we were blown away by how attentive Hannah was when it came to following our direction during the posed photos.  She even repeated our directions to Rob (just in case he wasn't paying attention the first time, ha, ha).  As West Yorkshire wedding photographers we love it when a couple are so invested in our work.  Not only do we bring out the best in them, they bring out the best in us too. We arrived to start the wedding photography at Hazlewood Castle with bridal preparations in the Lavender Suite, where Hannah was being pampered, and we caught our first glimpse of an absolutely spectacular and very unusual dress.  It had a train with the Wow! factor and a sexy low back, which showed off Hannah's intricate tattoo. The day wasn't without its hitches, as there was a serious accident on the motorway which meant a hair raising detour for us along what can only be described as a pot hole and nettle filled dirt track, and delays for guests, other suppliers and crucially, the registrars.  Hannah was as cool as you like, no tears or stress, just a relaxed and calm "Well, I'm here and ready!" Happily, all the guests managed to arrive in time and the registrars did get there for the ceremony, albeit a little late.  Rob looked very smart in his grey suit with a lovely pop of red in his tie, pocket square and buttonhole.  The colour scheme for the wedding was lovely, with a mix of rich, warm tones. Hannah's bouquet was exquisite and shows what can be achieved if you aren't too specific and allow your talented florist free reign to create something a bit different. The ceremony took place in the Old Dining Room, our favourite room for civil ceremonies, as its windows let in plenty of daylight, and Hannah and Rob personalised their ceremony by writing their own vows to each other.  The happy couple and their guests gathered outside for confetti and group photos and although the wind was a pest it didn't deter Hannah one bit. Hazlewood Castle is a venue that offers so many beautiful locations for photographs and Hannah and Rob wanted as much variety as we could give them. They were more than happy to join us during a lull in the wedding breakfast for photos in the Flemish Hall, and again after dinner, for a few more pictures in the Victoria Room and outside. As the evening party got underway we dashed out into the courtyard to set up for Mr and Mrs Dawson's twilight photographs, which worked to perfection due to their thoughtful timings for the cake cutting and first dance and them heading outside at exactly the right time when the lamps are lit and the sky is a rich dark blue.  Love it when a plan comes together :) Thank you guys, you were stars!  Congratulations and our very best wishes for the future!

Rogerthorpe Manor Recommended Wedding Photographer | Michelle and Chris's Wedding

Our second time in six days as Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, this time for Michelle and Chris, and our second outdoor ceremony in blazing sunshine.  Mel from Passion Flowers did a wonderful job of the floristry and the white blossom trees supplied by her made a lovely frame at the start of the red carpet for Michelle's entrance into the ceremony.  Before this there was the important job of capturing the hive of activity that is the bridal preparations, which took place in the party room.  There is a lovely wall of dark wood wardrobe doors which feature mood lighting and it's a great place for a photograph of that most important dress.  Michelle had let us into the surprise she had planned for Chris; he was presented with a Tag Heuer watch by his son on Michelle's behalf, and knowing this in advance meant we could conspire with Oscar beforehand and capture a sequence of images as Chris unwrapped his gift.  Suffice to say, he looked pleased!  We've enjoyed getting to know Michelle during the run up to the wedding but we've seen little of Chris due to his work commitments.  However, he was blown away by our album designs when we first met the couple at one of the venue's Open Days to showcase our Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photography and we can't wait to design a gorgeous album for him and Michelle.  After the activity in the girls' room and some time in the sunshine with Chris, we nipped back for final preparations and to capture one very proud dad having his first look at his daughter in her dress before he did the honours and walked her to the ceremony.  It was a big wedding with lots of guests and quite a lot of groups requested by the couple for us to cover before dinner, which meant leaving most of the couple's photos until later, which is great in the summer because there is lots of daylight, plenty of time, the couple are more relaxed and, another important one for wedding photographers, the light is better.  The Lawrence and Cawthorne Suites were opened out into one huge function room for the wedding breakfast and it looked incredible. Hats off to Mel, the florist, for going above and beyond for Michelle and Chris when they realised that their cake maker had made a mistake and finished it with the wrong colour scheme, but Mel took it all in her stride, drove back to her workshop, collected flowers in the right colours and replaced them; a true professional and a very kind thing to do.  Cute, giggling flower girls are fabulous, everyone loves pictures of them having fun and we nailed some beautiful shots of the three of them at this wedding. Anyone who thinks these things just happen should know that a certain amount of cajoling and some bribery often goes into getting them ;) The first dance featured an exploding balloon and the timings worked perfectly for some twilight photos in that lovely garden. Michelle, you looked stunning and Chris, you scrubbed up pretty well too!  Our congratulations to Mr and Mrs Sample and a huge thank you for giving us the pleasure of sharing your wedding day.
