Being Hazlewood Castle wedding photographers means a lot to us as we love working at this venue. It offers so much variety for a Yorkshire wedding photographer and it was our pleasure to be invited by Rebecca and Matt to capture their special day, which started with Janet paying a visit to Rebecca as she was being pampered in the spa. Whilst this was underway Alex took charge of photographing the dress and accessories, including a spectacular pair of Irregular Choice shoes. This was followed by portraits of the boys around the grounds, the couple's civil ceremony in the Old Dining Room, their blessing in the Chapel of St Leonard conducted by the wonderful Ian Walton who truly makes each marriage ceremony very personal and very special, their drinks reception with family and friends, right through to their first dance and entertainment from a DJ and a heavy rock band in the evening. The couple love fashion with a Gothic twist, favouring black and purple especially, and yet our bride had chosen a gorgeous ivory, princess style dress and our groom a smart, traditional suit. Not surprisingly their favourite Cadbury purple did feature in the flowers, bridesmaids' dresses and accessories and also in the Great Hall dressed for the wedding breakfast. It was one of those days when the sun kept appearing from behind the clouds and then disappearing again; challenging lighting conditions for wedding photographers, but we were really happy that it stayed dry. As we had a fantastic bridal party who were very much up for a laugh, we got them all involved in some fun Hazlewood Castle wedding photography before we were left alone with Rebecca and Matt for their pre-wedding breakfast portrait session. Matt had been really nervous about being photographed but our relaxed, friendly and encouraging approach won him over and we think he actually enjoyed the experience! We ended our coverage of the couple's day with some gorgeous twilight photographs in our favourite spot for wedding photographs at Hazlewood Castle - the courtyard. Thank you so much Mr and Mrs Starkie for booking us to photograph your wedding at Hazlewood Castle and a special thank you to Ben, Matt's brother and best man, for his kind words of thanks to us which we really appreciated. Hazlewood Castle Wedding Photographers - Sarah and Richard
It was a pleasure to be wedding photographers at St Giles' Church, Copmanthorpe for Sarah and Richard, and to have the opportunity to work again at this pretty village church, which is only a couple of minutes away from Sarah's parents' home, where she got ready for the ceremony, along with her bridesmaids and baby daughter, Eleanor.
We took the short drive to the church to meet Richard and after the dreadful weather of the previous week, it was fantastic to enjoy a warm and dry day. Not only was this a very special day for the couple, it was also a very special day for Eleanor, as she was christened during the same ceremony. We were joined by our good friends Ken and Carol Wilson from Phase 5 Productions, who captured the day on film. We always enjoy working with them and they do a fantastic job, leaving us to get on with the photography whilst they concentrate on capturing events as they unfold.
After the ceremony and an impressive confetti throwing effort by the guests, we left for Hazlewood Castle, where glasses of Pimm's were waiting in the courtyard for the guests to enjoy on arrival. The canapés looked good too! As Sarah and Richard arrived in their Beauford, we did feel a few spots of rain but thankfully, it didn't amount to anything, meaning that as planned, we could photograph the groups outside in the courtyard, our favourite location for these. As Hazlewood Castle wedding photographers, we are always spoilt for choice for backdrops to use in our photographs, but as time was short, featuring these in the couple photographs had to wait until later.
The vibrant Cadbury purple that the Sarah and Richard had chosen as their colour scheme looked stunning in the Great Hall, and we set aside a few minutes to capture an image of the whole room, the details on the tables, and the cake before the receiving line started, followed by speeches before the wedding breakfast, which we think is a brilliant idea if any of the speakers are at all nervous.
With a few groups left to do after dinner, Sarah mentioned the possibility of doing some fun shots with their group of friends. We're always up for this and those guys really went for it, giving us a great sequence of images which will look fantastic in the couple's wedding album.
Once everyone had gone back inside, it was lovely to have some quiet time for some couple photos and bridal portraits, around the grounds of Hazlewood Castle, before the first dance and evening party. It was great to see Russell Shaun, the swing singer again, who along with his band, entertained the guests.
Our congratulations go to Sarah, Richard and Ellie. We really appreciate being invited to capture your very special day.

Wedding Photographers Hazlewood Castle, Yorkshire
Wedding photography at Hazlewood Castle - Laura and Kevin - 28 October 2010
Laura and Kevin chose an autumn Thursday to tie the knot at the stunning wedding venue of Hazlewood Castle. As Yorkshire wedding photographers and recommended wedding photographers for Hazlewood Castle, it was so nice to be back. The trees looked beautiful in their autumn colours and Laura had chosen her colour scheme to compliment the season. When we arrived at Hazlewood, Laura was out getting her hair and make-up done and running late, so we made a start with photographs of her shoes and her gorgeous Ian Stuart wedding dress. By the time Laura arrived, Kevin and the guys were in their suits and ready for their photography session, so we had a walk around the grounds with them, taking some great pictures along the way and keeping Kevin's mind off any pre-wedding nerves. The couple married in a civil ceremony in the Victoria Room and because we'd already completed the boys' pictures, we followed Laura back upstairs to finish off her accessory photographs and capture all those buttons being done up on the back of her fabulous dress. Tip - a crochet hook comes in very handy for this! She looked just stunning and dad, Lance, must have been very proud as he accompanied her down the stairs. Following the blessing of Laura and Kevin's marriage in St Leonard's chapel, conducted by the lovely Ian Walton who is always an absolute pleasure to work with, the new Mr and Mrs Murray-Ward were congratulated by everyone before making their way over the bridge for the big group shot and a shower of confetti. The rain clouds loomed large throughout the group photography session and we were keeping our fingers well and truly crossed for the weather to hold until we'd completed these and the couple shots. We almost managed it... The raindrops started when we were just a few minutes from going inside but Laura and Kevin were brilliant sports - they didn't run for cover and we got the Private Dining photographs they wanted. With the Great Hall photographed and the before dinner speeches covered (which Kevin had told us would be short!), we left everyone to enjoy the wedding breakfast and at this point it did rain - properly. Then it stopped but any relief was shortlived because it started again, only heavier this time. Then it stopped... perfect! By the time the wedding breakfast was almost over, the rain had cleared. As professional wedding photographers at Hazlewood Castle, we know that there are lots of places to take photographs inside, but Laura and Kevin really wanted some evening shots outside in the courtyard and as video light and rain don't mix, we wanted it to be dry so that we could get the shots they wanted. In fact, Laura and Kevin were so keen to have these pictures taken that we were given instructions to "drag them out" as soon as the light was perfect! With perfect timing on their part, the wedding breakfast was over at exactly the time when the sky was that dark blue colour. We even managed to get some evening photographs in two different locations. Thank you guys - you, your families and your attendants were brilliant to work with and it was our pleasure to be part of your celebrations. We look forward to seeing your wedding photographs come together in a fabulous storybook album.
If you are a family member or a friend, please feel free to leave a comment - thank you.
