Wedding Photographers Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel | Kirsty and Wayne

Kirsty and Wayne chose Monday, 6 August as their wedding date.  As Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, getting to photograph a wedding there on a Monday as well as on a weekend was really nice and we knew we'd have a great day because Kirsty and Wayne had already told us that they were completely happy to try anything we suggested.

Kirsty got ready at Rogerthorpe Manor and when we arrived she was pretty chilled out and relaxed.  We photographed her beautiful, elegant dress and all her accessories and captured make-up being applied and hair being curled, keeping an eye on the weather and willing it to stop raining, before we went downstairs and met up with Wayne and his best man Scott.  By now, the rain had stopped and it didn't make another appearance all day - perfect!

The Lawrence Suite was beautifully dressed in Kirsty's choice of a coral pink and a photograph of it was in the can before we went back upstairs, a few minutes before the ceremony, to find Kirsty in her dress and her dad waiting to accompany her downstairs.

A very emotional civil ceremony followed and it was a privilege to share and capture some touching moments as Wayne saw his bride for the first time.  One image sums it up perfectly - Wayne overcome with emotion as he saw how beautiful Kirsty looked, Scott's knowing smile, Kirsty's dad, Nigel trying hard to hold it together and Kirsty smiling at the registrar as she reaches her soon to be husband's side.  Priceless.

With the sun shining and the drinks flowing, we enjoyed a few minutes with the new Mr and Mrs Longley before gathering everyone together for the big group photograph. Rogerthorpe Manor's main lawn is perfect for this and with all the guests assembled together, the confetti throwing came next.

With fantastic co-operation from everyone, we got all the group photographs done quickly, including those which had been earmarked for after the wedding breakfast and we still had time to take a sequence of fun pictures of Kirsty, Wayne, Scott and Kayleigh, have another short photo session with our bride and groom and then go back into the Lawrence Suite to photograph it before the call through for the wedding breakfast.

The speeches were before dinner and Wayne had a huge surprise for Kirsty who was under the impression that there was no honeymoon.  Her face was priceless when she opened an envelope handed to her by Wayne and inside was a sheet of paper with the words "Next stop Florida" on it.  Wayne you impressed us as well as Kirsty!

We returned to Rogerthorpe Manor after dinner and enjoyed some quiet time with the couple, photographed them together around the grounds and also created some more arty bridal portraits for Kirsty which we hope she will love.

A caricaturist kept the guests entertained during the lull between the end of the wedding breakfast and the start of the evening party and the last part of our coverage was Kirsty and Wayne's first dance, complete with an exploding balloon.

We really can't thank you guys enough for choosing us to share such a wonderful day and for being so easy going and a pleasure to work with.  We got some great feedback from you, your guests and your attendants which we very much appreciate and we look forward to seeing you when you get back from your honeymoon in Florida.

Burntwood Court Hotel Barnsley Wedding Photographers | Jenny and Danny

Jenny and Danny booked us as their Burntwood Court Hotel Barnsley wedding photographers quite a long time ago but the time passed so quickly and before we knew it, we were meeting up with them to discuss their timings and plans for the day, ideas for photographs and who they wanted on their group shots.

The Met Office had predicted heavy downpours and thunder storms for last Saturday. We usually try to avoid listening to the weather forecast ahead of a wedding because it's the one thing no one has any control over.  Everyone, especially Jenny, was over the moon when the sun shone all day and although glaring sunshine isn't necessarily a favourite of wedding photographers, it's much more welcome than torrential rain!

Jenny got ready with her bridesmaids at the hotel so everything on their day was at one venue.  We caught up with Jenny as she had her make-up done, Janet documenting this and Alex working in the next room, photographing shoes, jewellery, perfume and flowers. Two photographers really do make a difference to what can be captured on a wedding day and we always work together.

We went downstairs to find Danny and the boys already waiting for us in reception but we did nip into the civil ceremony room for a quick peek and to take a couple of photographs as Jenny had been asking if the room was already dressed and what it looked like. Stunning!

If Danny was nervous about the ceremony he certainly didn't let on and we kept him and the boys busy for a while around the outside of Burntwood Court before we went to chat with the registrars about their views on photography.  There were no restrictions so we could get on and enjoy documenting Jenny and Danny as they tied the knot.

The couple had allowed quite a long period of time between the end of their ceremony and sitting for the wedding breakfast.  They had a singer during the drinks reception and wanted to be able to relax and enjoy listening to her before we started on the formal photographs.  Once we'd finished these, there was still lots of time for us to have some fun with the couple, best man, ushers and bridesmaids before we left everyone for a short time to photograph Jenny and Danny together.

The wedding breakfast room really did look spectacular with its bright pink colour scheme with tall vases containing white feathers.  Very Las Vegas which also happens to be where the new Mr and Mrs Welsh are honeymooning.

We captured the speeches before dinner and returned later to find many of the guests enjoying the early evening sunshine.  As wedding photographers at Burntwood Court Hotel, we know that there are open fields behind the venue and this was our choice of location for Jenny and Danny's second photo session.  This was when we spotted the rainbow and although it wasn't a complete one, it was lovely to be able to feature it in some of their images before it disappeared.

Thank you Jenny and Danny for inviting us to share your fun summer wedding.  You were a pleasure to work with and we are so happy that the sun shone for you.  Enjoy Las Vegas and Mexico!

Monk Fryston Hall Weddings and Wedding Photography | Elizabeth and Gareth

As Monk Fryston Hall wedding photographers, we were looking forward to returning to this lovely wedding venue which is fairly local to us, to photograph Elizabeth and Gareth's reception, but our first stop of the day was some distance away at the couple's house in Liversedge where the girls were getting ready.  Elizabeth had let us into a secret that hers was a big dress and wow, was it spectacular!

After spending some time documenting hair being twirled and make-up being applied, we left in plenty of time to meet the boys who we knew would be arriving in a VW camper van. Arriving a little earlier than they did meant that we could photograph the Scottish piper playing outside the church before starting the boys' photographs.  St Peter's Chuch, Hartshead has such a happy and friendly vicar and a very interesting history.  It is the church where Patrick Bronte was minister before the family moved to Haworth and legend has it that the strange old tree in the churchyard was the one from which Robin Hood cut wood to make his arrows.

Elizabeth arrived with her proud dad and with almost no restrictions imposed by the vicar, we were able to capture the ceremony from both the front and the back of the church. Having two qualified professional wedding photographers makes such a difference to the coverage of a wedding.  Not only can we be in two places at once when we need to be, working together means we can also photograph the group session much more quickly than a single photographer can.

It was certainly a very windy day and the location of the church, high up and surrounded by open fields meant that there was little shelter from the gusts.  The ladies definitely had to hang on to their hats!  However, it wasn't raining which is always a bonus but because it was so windy, our plans to photograph the family groups at the church door had to be shelved in favour of waiting until we arrived at Monk Fryston Hall as we suspected that it would offer more shelter.  There were a couple of special images which Elizabeth and Gareth had asked for before we left and despite the strong winds we got the confetti shots and images featuring the church and the tree for them before we set off to the reception venue.

We arrived to glorious sunshine and a gentle breeze.  It seemed like a completely different day enabling us to get on with photographing the groups and the couple with their car and camper van.  Generous timings meant a relaxed drinks reception and plenty of time for photographs.  Absolutely perfect!

When we met Elizabeth and Gareth for their venue consultation they told us that they love arty, quirky images and also that they had a very special guest called Minty coming to their wedding.  Apparently he goes everywhere with them and just had to be included in some of the images.  See if you can spot him.

The new Mr and Mrs Ainley were lots of fun and an absolute pleasure to work with and their enthusiasm for trying anything we suggested was infectious, resulting in some fabulous images which we are very proud of.  A second photo session after the wedding breakfast meant that we could explore some of the areas around Monk Fryston Hall which are a bit further away and Elizabeth and Gareth were still very excited about trying out some different ideas and poses.  Minty was left out of those images though!

Thank you Elizabeth and Gareth for choosing us to photograph your wonderful wedding day.  You guys are going to have a spectacular album!
