Wedding Photographers The Coniston Hotel, Skipton | Elizabeth and Martin

We were delighted when Elizabeth and Martin very kindly booked us to be their Coniston Hotel, Skipton wedding photographers for a June day on which the weather looked less than promising in the morning, but transformed into a beautiful sunny day, enabling us to make the most of the gorgeous backdrop which this lovely venue in Coniston Cold has on its doorstep.

Having chatted at length with the couple ahead of their wedding, we knew that it was important to them that their day was a relaxed and happy celebration, in the company of their family and friends, and that they wanted relaxed wedding photography to reflect this. So, although we love creating images which can be best described as arty and having a fashion feel to them, we left this firmly behind and worked in a more relaxed and informal style.

We started with coverage of Elizabeth's preparations upstairs in one of the bedrooms at the Coniston Hotel, before we headed downstairs to meet up with the men, including best man Andy, Elizabeth's dad, her two sons and three generations of Whiteley boys.

The day was filmed by Andrew and Gail from A & G Video Productions and having worked with many videographers in the past, we thought these guys were just brilliant. For most of the day we hardly knew they were there as they let us get on with the photography whilst they documented the things which were happening from a distance.  It was obvious why Elizabeth and Martin chose them as their approach to capturing the day was perfect.

After the ceremony and with the weather playing ball, everyone stayed outside to enjoy the surroundings, have a few drinks, chat and soak up the sunshine before the wedding breakfast.

We took Elizabeth and Martin away for a while in the early evening for their relaxed couple photo session down by the lakeside and we were joined by a flock of sheep which really impressed Elizabeth, but then we were treated to a Red Arrows fly past of which there was no warning and which took lightning reactions on Alex's part to capture.  A loud roar overhead signalled their arrival as we all jumped out of our skins and they were gone in a couple of seconds.  It's nice to think that they planned it to say congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Whiteley and Elizabeth was even more impressed when Alex showed her the image on the back of the camera!  We had a few giggles as we photographed the couple with the lake in the background as Elizabeth particularly wanted swans in the photographs but these birds are extremely un-cooperative and as one raised its head out of the water, the other one's head disappeared!

We returned for the last part of the couple's wedding photography at the Coniston Hotel, which was capturing their first dance as husband and wife, but it was also important to get some great images of the band which will make a perfect closing chapter of what will be a fabulous Italian storybook album.

Thank you Elizabeth and Martin and your lovely family and friends.  Being there with you all was an an absolute pleasure and we were very flattered by your kind comments, especially Martin's when he said that they couldn't have asked for better photographers. Now that's a very nice compliment!
