Rogerthorpe Manor Wedding Photographer | Lianne and Barrie

Our third wedding of an extremely busy weekend saw us as wedding photographers at St John the Baptist Church, Wentbridge to capture Lianne and Barrie's marriage, followed by their celebrations with their family and friends at Rogerthorpe Manor Hotel.

We covered Lianne's preparations at home first and as everything ran perfectly to time, we were able to get a few photographs as her elegant dress was fastened by her mum and as Lianne applied her finishing touches, including wearing a bracelet with a shamrock charm which was in honour of her granddad, who is Irish, and who sadly couldn't be there to see his granddaughter get married.  

Barrie, his best women, Becky, and the boys, arrived at the church not long after we did and we soon had the groom's portraits done, leaving Barrie to welcome his guests whilst we photographed the bridesmaids ahead of Lianne's arrival.  Although it's the first time we've worked at this pretty church, we already knew the vicar's policy on photography, as he ministers at several churches in the area.  It's strictly from the back only, which is most definitely better than no photographs at all.

It was probably asking too much for the weather to behave itself for three consecutive full days and it kept changing from bright sunshine one minute to threatening rain the next. Luckily, it did manage to hold off until we got to Rogerthorpe Manor, at which point it tipped it down and out come our brollies.  Pleas for it to stop must have worked and by the time the newly married couple arrived, we were back to warm and dry, at least for a while.  As the threat of the wet stuff was never far away, we worked very quickly through the group photos in an attempt to beat it and avoid having to work indoors.

As Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, we always enjoy working at this lovely venue which is beautiful, has immaculately maintained gardens and where the staff are warm, friendly and helpful.  The food's great too!    

Whilst everyone was enjoying the wedding breakfast, we went to check out a nearby field full of ripening wheat and although it was muddy underfoot, we did think it was worth mentioning to Lianne and Barrie the possibility of some photographs in there.  Not only were they more than willing to give our ideas a try with the promise of some great images, Lianne had a pair of flat shoes with her which did make walking through a wheat field a bit easier and limited the damage to her wedding shoes.  The threat of a soaking was never far away and as we carry several umbrellas in our car for whenever our couples need them, it seemed a good time to bring our purple one out, as it was a close match to the colour scheme Lianne and Barrie had chosen.  We let Lianne loose with it and captured a few arty pictures.

A tall groom and a petite bride are the ideal combination for him to pick her up and this was where a quick change back to Lianne's wedding shoes was needed.  We'd been keeping a close eye on the rain clouds all day but for these images, the thundery and menacing sky really helped to make the images in the field something really special for the couple.

Wedding Photographers Rogerthorpe Manor | Michelle and Martin

Michelle and Martin booked us as their Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers less than three weeks before their big day after we were recommended to them by a mutual friend.  We've been booked at fairly short notice before but never as close to the big day as this! 

We hit it off straight away with this lovely couple and we all breathed as huge sigh of relief when they booked - us because we really wanted to share Michelle and Martin's wedding day and make sure that they had some great photographs to remember it by and them because it was uncertain as to whether they would have a wedding photographer at all. We hear so many sad stories from couples who are disappointed with their wedding photos and regret not booking a professional wedding photographer but everything turned out well in the end for Michelle and Martin.

Although the weather looked decidedly dodgy, having thrown it down with rain at least twice before we left home for Rogerthorpe Manor, it held off, allowing us to have a laugh with the boys outside on the main lawn before waiting at the bottom of the stairs for Michelle to make her entrance with her brother, Michael, who had the privilege of giving her away.  Michelle's brothers played a big part in this wedding - Philip as best man to Martin and Michael escorting his sister into the ceremony in the Cawthorne Suite. Someone else who deserves a mention is Liam, the couple's son, who might have assumed that being in the photographs would be very boring  but we did our best to prove otherwise and we think he had a good time.

After the ceremony and with the rain ever threatening, we grabbed a few minutes to photograph Michelle on her own and the couple together before starting the groups. Everyone was fantastic and because Michelle and Martin had kept their group shot list to a small number, we had them done quickly and this left a plenty of time for a some more relaxed couple photographs around the grounds.

Michelle and Martin were such a great couple to work with and although Michelle had been very apprehensive about being photographed, she said that she felt completely at ease with us and this, of course, made for great photographs.

Rogerthorpe Manor Wedding Photographers | Lisa & David's Wedding Photography

As recommended Rogerthorpe Manor wedding photographers, it's always a pleasure to work at this lovely venue and we were delighted when Wayne told his friends, Lisa and Dave about us and our work.  Lisa and Dave came to see us and booked us on the spot which made our day.

The morning of the wedding, we arrived at the couple's house where their son, Jack, was full of energy and running round without a care in the world.  The ladies were under a bit more pressure, having their hair styled and getting ready for the wedding.   

We arrived at Rogerthorpe Manor to meet the boys.  Dave, Wayne and Darren have been close friends for many years and so it was a given that there would be two best men. Wayne had another job as well as that of best man.  He runs Class Laser Clay and set this up as a gift for Dave and Lisa.  If you fancy entertainment with a difference that's great fun and safe for everyone, we can highly recommend it.

As unpredictable as the April weather is, the hailstones which fell as we were waiting for Lisa and her dad to arrive were pretty unexpected and pretty unwelcome too.  Thankfully, they stopped a couple of minutes before our bride's car appeared.  Typically, it stayed dry throughout the civil ceremony in the Lawrence Suite and then decided to throw some light drizzle our way just as we started the group photos. Lisa and Dave took it all in their stride and thanks to the assistance of Wayne and Darren who held umbrellas over each assembled group, whipped them away just before each shot was taken and then put them back again, we got all the group photographs in the can in very little time and without the need to work indoors.  Guys, you were stars!

Lisa and Dave were fantastic to work with and were up for trying anything including some fun photographs with their best men and Lisa's sisters, Sharon and Natalie, who were bridesmaids and luckily, by now, the rain had stopped allowing us to ditch the brollies and use some of the backdrops at Rogerthorpe Manor for photographs of the couple together before the wedding breakfast.  The Lawrence Suite had been beautifully and expertly dressed by Stacey Benson of Chantilly Weddings.  Stacey's a lovely lady, does a brilliant job and her services are highly recommended.

After dinner, the sun came out, it was warm and dry and we captured some reportage photographs as the children (and some adult size kids!) played on the lawn before we borrowed the new Mr and Mrs Bridges for some photographs together and enjoyed our favourite time on a wedding day - creative, romantic, relaxed couple photography time. 

A first dance and exploding balloon was the finale to their big day but we couldn't leave without taking a few evening photographs.  Lisa and Dave, your wedding day was fantastic.  Thank you for asking us to share it with you and for looking after us so well.
